Land

We endeavor to be exemplary stewards of the land

Solstice Grove is a permaculture demonstration site at the headwaters of a seasonal creek that flows to Tomales Bay in West Marin. The property spans five ecotones - separate stands of Redwood and Doug Fir mixed with Bay Laurel in the north facing forest, and California Maple along the creek - while grassland and Coast Live Oak surround our deer-fenced orchards and gardens on the south facing slopes in the valley.

We get much of our electricity from the sun,

collect all of our own water from two springs and a well,

harvest our own firewood

and grow as much food as we have water.

We keep bees and chickens, and are working towards goats, and we have wildlife - including mountain lion, rattlesnake... and bobcat.
